Aka Thursday 14th February 2019
Went for a morning constitutional, aka my long walk to get
the newspaper, and managed to walk 10.10km (6.28 miles), in 1 hour 51 minutes
and 32 seconds, which burnt through 1,100 calories and took 12,625 steps…
…and when I got home, I completed and submitted application for
a NHS England post…
…and in the post, I got #8 of Sarah Horrocks ‘Goro’, a sixty-page
epic which draws the saga to close, with happyish endings for some, middling
endings for some and bloody endings for others. A bit like ‘Snotgirl’, if you’d
described what ‘Goro’ is about I probably would have given it a miss, but
because of the other work I’d seen of Sarah’s and because of her tweets and
longer writing (I think the only comic I’d read by her was the Prophet
back-up) I really wanted to see what she
did when she was creating something 100%. And its been a fun ride, unlike any
other comic I’ve read, there’s elements of melodrama like in Claremont’s
‘X-Men’, but no super-heroics, or ‘Dynasty’, and intrigue like ‘24’ (with the assassins
and planes blowing up), but all through Sarah’s unique eye. Looking forward to
re-reading the story, all in one go. 9/10.
…and I did the G2 Crossword:
…in which the answers flow like a river after a heavy rain
and I just need to cheat on an eleventh of the clues (two out of 22)! And it
would have been a clean sweep if I’d gone for ‘as regards’ instead of ‘as
regards’ and for ‘lima’ instead of ‘soya’.
