MEANING
|
MY READING
|
|
In a general context, the Six
of Cups reversed can signify letting go of the past and being ready to move
on to the future. It can be an indicator of growing up, becoming more mature
or leaving home. It can also indicate letting go of childhood issues or
childishness. The Six of Cups reversed can indicate childhood abuse or stolen
innocence. This Minor Arcana card reversed in a Tarot reading can also
indicate overcoming such abuse so look to the supporting cards for
clarification. If you have been going through counselling or therapy, the Six
of Cups reversed can be a good omen, signalling that you have worked through
the issues of the past and are ready for a fresh start. Alternately, the Six
of Cups reversed can indicate that you are stuck in the past or looking at
past events through rose tinted glasses, if that’s the case you need to bring
your focus back to the present moment and appreciate what you have
today.
|
My plan for the next year is
to manage my finances better, to pay off a credit card and, by year’s end, to
start applying for jobs at a higher grade. So, this fits well as my present
position – I’m letting go of my past frivolity and acting more responsibly.
It also reflects on my overarching plan to get back into the civil service
within the next four years, but maybe I’m planning this as I see my past work
in the civil service with “rose tinted glasses” and maybe I shouldn’t limit
myself this way and should concentrate on the opportunities my present
position allows me.

Queen of Cups
|
In a general context, the
Queen of Cups Tarot card can generally signify a woman or women in your life
who will be supportive and caring towards you. This Minor Arcana card is also
a sign that you should be mindful of how you treat yourself and others or to
treat people with compassion and sympathy. She can also indicate that you may
be more sensitive than you let on to the outside world and that harsh actions
or hurtful comments affect you more than you show to the outside world. This
card can also indicate a tendency to daydream and a big imagination. As a
person, the Queen of Cups represents a mature female or feminine person who
is kind, caring and supportive. The Queen of Cups is a sentimental, sensitive
soul and a good listener. She is empathetic to the feelings of others. As a
mother, partner or friend, the Queen of Cups is affectionate, loving and
warm. However, she can also be shy and have a tendency to daydream. She is
creative, artistic and intuitive and she appreciates beauty. She may be a
water sign such as Cancer, Scorpio or Pisces
|
This card represents my immediate
influence – the nature of the influences or the obstacles that lie ahead.
And I’m unsure how to read this one (aside form that it’s always good to be “mindful
of how you treat yourself and others or to treat people with compassion and
sympathy”). Does it represent a woman who will be helpful (a current boss or
future boss? A relative? A friend?). Maybe it’s a reference to my tendency to
daydream, and maybe I should be careful not to get lost in daydreams? Or
maybe it means that I should dream big and I will achieve the dream with the help
of a “mature or feminine person”?

Five of Cups
|
How many negative emotions
can one card represent? Quite a few in the case of the Five of Cups! In a
general context, the Five of Cups Tarot card can represent sadness, loss,
loneliness and despair. When this card appears it indicates that you are
focusing on the negative. This may be the result of some sort of trauma or
unwelcome change you have suffered. As such, this card can signify
heartbreak, divorce or separation. The Five of Cups also tends to appear if
you have suffered a recent bereavement as it represents mourning and grief.
It is a card of emotional baggage and instability and can signify that you
feel deep remorse, regret, anger, sorrow or disappointment. It is also the
Minor Arcana card of abandonment and can either represent you being abandoned
by someone significant to you or you abandoning plans or people in your life.
It can also indicate loneliness or isolation. However, for all the negative
connotations this card can bring there is a positive message underneath it
all. The figure depicted in the card is crying over the spilt cups and seems
to be oblivious to the fact that two cups are still upright. This is
reminding you that no matter how bad things may seem there is always a silver
lining, you just have to choose to see it.
|
From the first reading it
feels a bit gutting to get this as my goal or destiny card, but on
further thought maybe it represents my goal of moving to a higher grade (the “separation”
and “abandoning plans or people in your life”) or that I’m letting myself focus
on (or worry too much about) negatives, rather than focusing on the positives?
Maybe it just represents the feelings of loss when you do leave one job for
another (e.g. remorse and regret) and that I need to acknowledge them, but
also to acknowledge that they are part and parcel of changing jobs?

The Magician (r)
|
When The Magician reversed
Tarot card appears in a Tarot reading it is a sign that you will need to be
careful not to miss the opportunities coming your way. Don’t allow self-doubt
to stop you from seizing the moment. If it refers to a person, The Magician
reversed can mean that a person in your life who presents themselves as
knowledgeable and trustworthy may actually be trying to use you or manipulate
you. Watch out for deceitful and greedy people and be careful who you trust
with this Major Arcana card in reverse!
|
This card represents my distant
past foundation – which are the broad and basic events and influences
which existed in the past and upon which the present events are based. And I
think that it represents my weariness to grab the opportunities and chances
that had come my way in the past, that I need to change that approach to things
and to seize the moment when it occurs.
|
Eight of Swords (r)
|
In a general context, the
Eight of Swords can represent feeling trapped, confined, restricted or backed
into a corner or having your hands tied. It signifies fear, terror, anxiety
and psychological issues. It is a Minor Arcana card of hopelessness,
helplessness, powerlessness, slavery, persecution and being silenced or
censored. You will be feeling the
pressure when this appears and may be in crisis or going through a dilemma or
drama. However, the overall theme of this card is that you are the one
keeping yourself in this situation through negative thinking and allowing
yourself to be paralysed by fear. The swords depicted in the card are
surrounding you but you can take the blindfold off and walk away at any time!
This card also represents consequences and judgement which may take the form
of trial by jury, imprisonment and punishment.
|
This card represents recent
past events – aka the most recent sphere of influence or events that have
passed or are just passing. In my context I think that this represents being
unemployed and the accompanying lack of funds (accounting for feeling trapped,
confined, restricted or backed into a corner or having your hands tied. And
my anxiety). But that has changed now that I’m a permanent member of staff.
But I did to remember that I shouldn’t let myself be held back by negative
thinking and allowing fear to control what I do.
|
Queen of Pentacles (r)
|
In a general Tarot spread,
the Queen of Pentacles represents a lack of social status, poverty, failure,
dependence and being out of control. This Minor Arcana card tells warns you
that if you do not keep your feet on the ground you could lose everything you
value. She signifies a lack of common sense or an impractical, dangerous or
chaotic approach to life. As a person, the Queen of Pentacles reversed can
represent a mature female or feminine person who is mean-spirited and
materialistic and who can be spoiled, shallow and pretentious. She can be
possessive, jealous, envious or a social climber or in her extreme state, a
manipulative sociopath who will step on anyone to get what she wants. She can
simply represent a woman who is unpleasant to be around, disorganised, lazy,
bad with money or boring. On the other hand, when reversed this woman can
appear charming and pleasant but beneath her charm there is a sinister
undertone of disloyalty, evilness, wickedness, chaos and danger. The Queen of
Pentacles can represent a cheating woman or a prostitute. She can be a
neglectful or abusive mother and a bad cook or a careless hostess. She may be
an Earth sign such as Taurus, Virgo or Capricorn.
|
My future influence,
which I’m reading as telling me to not to daydream to much, to keep my feet
on the ground and to take a practical approach to things. It may also
represent my current job, which is relatively low on the totem pole.
|
Four of Pentacles (r)
|
In a general context, the
Four of Pentacles reversed Tarot card can indicate that you are ready to let
go of people, possessions, situations or past issues. You may be releasing
toxic people or situations that are no longer healthy for you, shedding old
issues or letting go of regrets or fears. You may also be feeling generous
and sharing your wealth or possessions by giving to others. Be careful not to
go to the extreme in this aspect and allow others to take advantage of you.
This Minor Arcana card can indicate that you may have let go of or lost
something valuable through theft or gambling or it can be an indication that
you are out of control or are engaging in reckless behaviour. However, the
Four of Pentacles reversed can also indicate that you having stopped trying
to control people or situations and are approaching things with a more
relaxed and open attitude. Look to the surrounding cards for clarification.
|
This is the questioner care,
representing my present position or attitude, which is that I’m ready (or if
not ready that I should be doing this) to let go of past issues and letting
go of regrets and fears, and that I should take a more relaxed and open
attitude to things.
|
Six of Pentacles
|
In a general context, the Six
of Pentacles Tarot card represents gifts, kindness and generosity. Someone in
your life may be very generous towards you with gifts or money or simply
generous with their time, knowledge or wisdom. Alternately, you may have so
much wealth and prosperity that you are the one in a position to help others.
This Minor Arcana card can indicate sharing, support, charity or donations.
As such, if you are in a difficult situation at the moment, this card can
indicate that there is help available and that someone will assist or support
you if you reach out. You may be feeling a strong sense of community spirit
or compelled to help those around you when it appears in your Tarot spread.
It is also a card of power and control so you may find yourself in a position
of authority or being well-respected by others when it appears in your Tarot
reading. The Six of Pentacles is usually a positive card to get as it can
signify equality and fairness and can also symbolise being well paid, being
valued or being rewarded for hard work. If you are prospering when it
appears, remember to share your good fortune with those around you!
|
Environmental factors,
my influence on other people and my position in life. Which I’m not sure how
to read, except maybe that I should be sharing and supportive of other people
and that I should except help from others when needed/it is offered.
|
Page of Swords
|
In a general context, the
Page of Swords represents delayed news, ideas, planning and inspiration. It
can also signify being protective, guarded and vigilant. This Minor Arcana
card may be telling you to be patient, to think before you speak and not to
get drawn in unnecessary arguments or conflicts. It can also represent
fairness, speaking out and fighting injustice. The Page of Swords can
indicate mental agility, learning or getting an education, being
quick-witted, curious and inquisitive and using your head. This card can
signify being chatty, communicative, truthful and direct. However, it can
also signify being blunt or abrasive or engaging in petty gossip. As a
person, the Page of Swords represents a young person, child or person who is
young at heart, who is chatty, lively, quick thinking, analytical, logical
and cool and possesses a sharp mind. This person abhors injustice and is a
deep thinker but at the same time can come across as blunt, insensitive or a
bit of a loner sometimes. In the negative, they can also be a bit of a gossip
or deceitful but they do not intentionally cause harm. They like to stick to
the rules and may be an air sign such as Aquarius, Gemini or Libra.
|
My inner emotions,
inner hopes, hidden emotions and secret desires, fears and anxieties. I think
it relates to my plan to go up a grade (or two) by the end of the year and
that I may be being too protective and guarded of myself. And it’s always
good to be patient, to think before you speak and not to get drawn in
unnecessary arguments or conflicts.
|
Ten of Swords
|
In a general context, the Ten
of Swords is not a good omen as it can represent backstabbing betrayal,
badmouthing, bitching behind your back, bitterness and enemies. It is a Minor
Arcana card of failure, ruin, collapse, severing ties, goodbyes and the final
nail in the coffin of a relationship or situation. It can signify nervous
breakdowns, chronic fatigue, exhaustion and being unable to cope. It can also
represent hitting rock bottom, hitting a wall or being in a dead end
situation. The Ten of Swords can also indicate someone playing the victim or
martyr, being overly dramatic, attention seeking or exaggerating. It can also
signify violence, attacks and curses.
|
The final results, the
culmination and results of all the influences revealed by the other cards.
And again, from the first reading it feels a bit gutting to get this, as it
can represent backstabbing betrayal, badmouthing, bitching behind your back, bitterness
and enemies. But it can also represent goodbyes and the final nail in the
coffin of a relationship or situation, which I’m choosing to read as my
succeeding in moving up a grade (or two), but that I did to be mindful that
things may not work out as I hope and that it may take a while longer to get
what I want.
