Aka Wednesday 28th November 2018
Went for an exercise walk and walked 9.96km (6.2miles) in 1h57minutes,
which took 12,903 steps, burnt 1,100 calories and gave me time to think about my upcoming presentation...
...and listened to the latest 'Recovered & Remastered' tracks, ‘4Orbidden Mission IV’ and ‘Satellite Serenade (So
Slow, It Grows...)’:
‘4Orbidden Mission IV’
is described as “A 48 minute journey featuring 4 classic 'The Orb' mixes...” and list
three of the mixes: Gudrun Gut -Firething (The Orb Firedub), Keiichi Suzuki - Satellite
Serenade (Trans Asian Express Mix) and The Cranberries - Zombie (Camel's Hump
Mix). This is a dubby, trip-hop-ish mix that could have soundtracked Bill &
Zed’s trip up the 'Wild Highway' aka 'The Congo/Zaire River' or perhaps Captain Willard’s journey to Colonel Kurtz…
‘Satellite Serenade (So Slow, It Grows...)’ is described as “Probably
the finest Orb remix, slowed down here to become a rumbling dub filled
monster...”, which it is, it draws you in, you’re nodding along, submerging
into the track and suddenly it’s over, so you put it back on and spend another
40 minutes enjoying peace and mellowness. A friend summed it up as a ‘smokers
delight’ of a tune 😊
…didn’t do New Comic Book Day today because there was only
one comic out that I want to get and it made financial sense to order it from
ebay, rather than buy a ticket into London Town…
…and I did the G2 Crossword:
…which takes us underground as I had to cheat on a third of
the clues (seven out of 21). The answers did come, but they were cloudy and
sometimes half formed, like I went for ‘airstrip’ when the answer was
‘airfield’ and ‘oval’ instead of ‘ovum’, but I did learn that a ‘person in
charge of a lifeboat’ is called a ‘coxswain’, that a ‘large plover with a loud
call – peewit’ is a ‘lapwing’, that a ‘curtain rail concealer’ is called a
‘pelmet’ and that ‘inveigh’ means to ‘complain bitterly’.
