Aka Monday 14th January 2019
I had a nightmare journey to today’s interview. I got to the
train station with plenty of time, but when I sat down to wait for the next train,
the tannoy came to life and said that due to a rail breaking the trains going in
the direction of my interview would be delayed a tad. Except that the tad went
on and on, so after twenty minutes of waiting and no sign of a train ever arriving, I ended up getting my Mum to drive me to the interview,
which we got to in time. And I think the interview went well, but I’m a little
worried that my lack of direct experience at this type of job may be an issue…but
I should find out on the 16th or 17th…
…I also watched ‘Sad Hill Unearthed’, which is a documentary
about the restoration of the Sad Hill Cemetery, which is the cemetery from the climax
of ‘The Good, The Bad and The Ugly’, and about teh making of 'The Good...'. And it’s a great documentary showing how a
film can touch people and spur them on to face and overcome great challenges
and achieve great things. Well worth watching. 7/10.
…and I did the G2 Crossword:
…which gets the week off to a bad
start as I need to cheat on a third of the clues (eight out of 25). I think my
mind was too taken up with this afternoon’s interview to fully concentrate on
the clues. But I did learn that ‘Table Mountain’ is a ‘Cape Town feature’ and
an anagram of ‘I’m a notable nut’, that a ‘Spanish princess’ is an ‘Infanta’,
that ‘Anglesey’ is a ‘British island known locally as Ynys Mon’ and that the
‘Rhone’ is a ‘river running from the Swiss Alps to the Mediterranean’.
