Day 557

Today I did the G2 crossword:

And the postman delivered a copy of The Soulsavers remixes of The Beastie Boys ‘Alive’ (which has taken me three attempts to record to mp3, so far the recording has been either too quiet or too loud!):

…I then went up to London Town to met up and watch ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp’. By the time I got To London the rain was well and truly coming down:

While it’s great to see Evangeline Lilly as ‘The Wasp’, this sequel isn’t quite as funny or interesting as the first Ant-Man film. I think this is mostly due to the two main villains, Hannah John-Kamen as ‘Ghost’ and Walton Goggins as ‘Sonny Burch’, not being very fleshed out.

If there had just been the one main villain I think there would have been time in the film to make them into a rounded individual. As it is they’re just baddies doing bad guy stuff, which does mean that there are some great fight scenes, but you never feel like these are real people doing things, instead they’re troubled person doing bad things for a good reason and a crooked businessman/arms dealer. Six and a half out of ten.

On the journey up and back home I finished reading John Higgs 'Watling Street', in which Mr Higgs explores modern day Britain via the history of Watling Street (which starts at the White Cliffs of Dover and ends in "the Druid groves of the Welsh island of Anglesey").

It’s a great and entertaining read, I'm a tad fussy about keeping books pristine & hate dog earing them, but with Watling Street it had to be done, it's jam packed with interesting facts and thoughts that you want to go back to and consider and mull over, so many that I had to dog ear the bottom pages too! For example:
