It’s been so hot and it doesn’t look like it’s going to cool
down soon, so I’ve decided to take a break from my morning walk until it does
cool down and become more bearable.
As well as doing yesterday's and today's G2 Crossword:
…I watched ‘The Treasure of the Sierra Madre’.
The story is
about three Americans (played by Humphrey Bogart, Tim Holt and Walter Huston)
who are scrapping a living in Mexico town, but when they come into a little
money decide to try gold prospecting. As well as finding gold they find hard
work, temptation, dis-trust, madness and betrayal. As you’d expected the ‘The
Treasure…’ is well written, shot and acted and it does a great job of getting
over the heat of Mexico and how dirty and sweaty the characters lives are. And
it’s where the phrase "We don't need no stinking badges!" comes from
(although it is a misquote and the actual line is "Badges? We ain't got no
badges. We don't need no badges! I don't have to show you any stinkin'
badges!")
