Aka Saturday 16th February 2019
Today I read ‘William Gibson’s Alien 3’ #4, which I found a
bit confusing to follow as it felt like a page or two were missing or it wasn’t
clear when scenes were transitioning from one to the other and I’m not loving the
idea that you can ‘catch’ being a Xenomorph, like a viruses, and that you don’t
need an egg/facehugger involved. But I do like being able to catch up with
Hicks and Bishop. 6/10.
…and ‘By Night’ #8: everything seems to be back to normal
(relatively), Jane and Barney are back to speaking terms (almost) and enjoy a
work do to celebrate their boss’s birthday, we learn more about Heather and how
she keeps herself in the lifestyle she is accustomed too, is there a
familial connection between Jane and the interdimensional portal and Gardt is
back! A fun issue, with plenty of laughs, emotion and intrigue, like ‘Spaced’
crossed with ‘Twin Peaks’, but with a unique John Allison and Christine
Larsen-ness to it. 8/10.
…and I did the G2 Crossword:
…which goes twice as well as yesterday’s crossword, with
only needing to cheat on a twelfth of the clues (two out of 24), a good end to
the week. Aside from those two clues, the rest flowed like honey on a hot
summer’s day, I should have been able to get ‘regimentation’, but I did learn
that an ‘adze’ is a ‘tool for shaping large pieces of wood’.
