Feeling more settled in work and it’s all becoming everyday and normal…
…when I popped out for lunch, I also picked up a copy of ‘Valkyrie’,
because it’s practically the only film written by Christopher McQuarrie that I
haven’t seen. And it’s a great film, a superb cast (Tom Cruise, Kenneth
Branagh, Bill Nighy, Terence Stamp, Tom Wilkinson, Carice van Houten, Kevin
McNally, Eddie Izzard, Halina Reijn and Tom Hollander and more!) that looks
beautiful, from the direction, costumes to sets/scenery. Gives a real sense of
how some/many Germans viewed Hitler and how close they came too toppling him.
If it wasn’t for a bit of bad luck and lack of nerve among some of the conspirators,
they could have taken out Hitler and really changed how WWII ended (and the subsequent
course of European history). If they had succeeded would Germany have been
divided up, would there have been a Berlin Wall, an European Union, how would the
Cold War have gone? 8/10.
…when I got home the postie and been and delivered these New
