Days 800 - 802

Aka Wednesday 10th, Thursday 11th and Friday 12th April 2019

On Wednesday I went into town to get some fresh food and to pick up the latest issue of ‘Q’, which has a good interview with Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie and the latest 2000AD partwork, volume 5 of the 'Strontium Dog' story. And when I got home the postman had delivered the latest issue of ‘Green Lantern’:

…and on Thursday I had a Long Walk, 10.29km (6.39miles) in 1 hour, 52 minutes and 29 seconds, which burnt 1,000 calories and took 12,790 steps:

…and on Friday I went back into town to get the new ‘Chemical Brothers’ album ‘No Geography’, a great album that harks back to their early days:

…I also read some more of ‘Comics Will Break Your Heart’, which I’m enjoying a lot, including the chapter where Mir lost her job on the day that I got a job…spooky! And did some prep work for my new temp job, just noting where to go, when, who to ask for, getting my work clothes ready, etc…

…I also re-watched ‘The Game’, which loses a bit of the tension, as I know what the twist is, but it’s still nice watching a great cast of actors, with a talented director, and looking for little hints of the twist, to see if I could have guessed the end. I also read ‘Savage Dragon#243, an action-packed issue as Amy Dragon gets started in the family business of crime fighting. Just remember bad guys, never underestimate a Dragon, even when they are a pre-schooler!

…and I did the G2 Crossword:

…Wednesday’s crossword which went almost as well as yesterday’s crossword, with only having to cheat on an eighth of the clues (three out of 24) and I learnt that ‘andante’ means ‘in a moderately slow tempo’ and that ‘Assam’ is a ‘tea-growing state in north-east India’. The little grey cells are certainly earning their keep, but will it continue for the rest of the week?

…and the little grey cells are still going full steam ahead with Thursday’s crossword, keeping up the doing pretty well streak, as I only had to cheat on a ninth of the clues (two out of 18), if I’d remembered that the ‘Baht’ is the ‘Thai currency unit’ and had thought a bit more laterally on ‘on the way out’ I might have gotten ‘dying’, c’est la vie!

…and Friday’s crossword goes a tad worse, as I had to cheat on nearly a fifth of the clues (four out of 19) and it was a real struggle to get some of the clues I did get, like it took ages to get ‘lord’ from ‘master’ and ‘homily’ from ‘lecture on a moral topic’, must do better with tomorrow’s crossword!
