Aka Saturday 20th April 2019
A quiet day, back out in the garden, with some cool music
and comics:
‘East of West’ #42, by Jonathan Hickman, writer, and Nick Dragotta,
artist, Frank Martin, colours, and Rus Wooton, letters – we see the Horsemen
fall out with Death and the consequence of this fall out (if you can call cutting
the arms off Death’s wife a falling out!). An action-packed issue, which,
although it is set in the past, explains why the Nations are in the places they
are in the modern day. 7/10.
‘Assassin Nation’ #2, by Kyle Starks, creator and writer,
Erica Henderson, creator and artist, Deron Bennett, letterer, Jon Moisan, editor
– the assassins bound over their first kills, and other things, and are
attacked again, and are further whittled down. An excellent blend of late ‘80’s/early
‘90’s action films and modern action films, kinda like if ‘John Wick’ was done
in the style of an ‘80’s Arniefilm. Plenty of action and one-liners. 7/10.
…and I did the G2 Crossword:
…which ends the week on a fairly okay note, as I only had to
cheat on a sixth of the clues (four out of 24), although I should have gotten
‘gee-gees’ and ‘the rope’, maybe the little grey cells are enjoying the sun a
tad too much 😊 And I learnt that ‘lisle’ is a ‘(fabric
woven with) a fine cotton thread’ and that ‘Arno’ is ‘Florence’s river’.
