I finally knuckled down and completed a new job application,
I had previously gone over the job description and made some notes on how to structure
my personal statement setting out how I meet the criteria and why I should get the
job. But I just could get into the right headspace to actually write the
statement, but I’ve got it done now. Although, I don’t think I’ll be able to
accept it, if by some miracle I got offered an interview and aced it, as I’ve
just accepted this new job which is due to last till the end of August. But, it’s
good practice to have completed it and hopefully I get some feedback on it,
which I can use for the next application.
…plus it took my mind off my bad back, I’m not immobile, but
it hurts when I stand up or sit down, but after a few moments it dies down to a
dull ache, so no weights or Long Walk today…
…and I did the G2 Crossword, which starts the week off with
an Illuminati score, as I had to cheat on five of the 23 clues. It was a bit of
a grind to get many of the answers, but most of them were got, and the ones I
didn’t get, I should have gotten most of them – like ‘drawn’ from ‘haggard’,
‘largesse’ from ‘generosity’, or ‘annals’ from ‘historical records’, but I did
learn that an ‘azalea’ is a ‘showy ornamental shrub’ and that a ‘rangefinder’
is an ‘instrument for determining the distance of an object’ (which I should
have guessed!):
…but the crossword did help warm up the little grey cells
for when I started and finished the job application. The one big lesson I’ve
learnt from the last six months of job applying is that I should have kept
personal notes of the work I did, especially the key important pieces of work,
as it’s tricky to remember everything I did, say five years ago, yet a long ten
years ago, and exactly what it involved , when I can’t access the files at
work.
