Aka Friday 9th November 2018
Today I went into town to get some DM's for the winter, but after 15
minutes of waiting I got told that they didn’t have them in my size (10)!, but they did have some funky DM's with 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' and 'Beavis and Butt-Head' designs:
...back home I watched some TV, including the new episode ("The Worst Possible Use of Free Will") of ‘The Good Place’. Season Three of ‘The Good Place’ has felt a little bit ‘not quite as good as Seasons One and Two’, which I think is due to it being set on Earth and in real life, rather than the fantasy world of the fake The Good Place. But as a lot this episode was set in fake The Good Place it recaptured the silliness and fun of the first two seasons…

…and I worked on my personal statement, I’ve got 1,000 words
to explain how my personal skills, qualities and experience demonstrate your
suitability for this post. I feel like I’ve made a good start, I’ve gone
through the Department’s aims and values and the job spec and description to
pick out the key attributes and phrases and have drafted some lines that incorporate
and reflect them. Which has put me at approximately 450 words, about half way
there, now I’ve just got to connect up the lines, add in some real life examples
to illustrate what I’m talking about, proof it and submit it by 11.59pm this
Sunday. Easy peasy!
…I also got round to ripping my recent vinyl purchases:
…and the Justin Unabomber 12” ripped just fine, and is four great cuts of funk, soul and disco, but the SnP 500 12” was a nightmare, it kept stopping the rip after thirty seconds and
nothing I did would change it (basically just restarting, unplugging and
re-plugging the cables and changing the gain, as those are the only things you
can change), but after I little online digging around I think it’s down to just
have a cheap record player and that if I’d spent £100+ and not £60, I wouldn’t
be having this problem. It’s that old adage “You get what you pay off”, so
that’s another thing to add to the list of purchases for when I’m back in
employment or I win the Lottery…
…and the upswing is still continuing with today’s crossword, although with a tiny dip as I had to cheat on three of the 23 clues, but the rest of the answer flowed from my mind to my pen and I did learn that ‘bladderwrack’ is a ‘common brown seaweed’, that ‘vellum’ has a heavy cream colour and that another word for ‘pernickety’ is ‘finical’.
