Today (8th June May) was Election Day. I voted early,
on the way to get my morning paper, and was slightly surprised at being the
only person at the polling station (aside from the polling staff) and that
there was only one party (Labour) member outside the station, when normally you
get at least the ‘big’ three covering each station. Maybe because it’s a safe
Tory seat? I then spent the rest of the day trying to ignore the election and the
forecasted Tory landslide.
Non-election highlights were getting the great Hannah Peel’s cover of Praise
You (the original version, although it kinda works as a cover of Fatboy Slim’s
version). I’m a sucker for downbeat, plaintive covers.
Election related highlights
include Frankie Boyle’s new show, Frankie Boyle's New World Order, and the exit
poll showing an improvement for Labour and an unimprovement for the Tories.
Election lowlights were trying to watch Channel Four’s alternative election
night coverage on my laptop, which was practically impossible – I’d watch one
minute, then it would buffer for two minutes, play for one minute, buffer for
two, and so on and on. Rebooting the router and the laptop didn’t help, so I
just read until Frankie’s show started (on the iplayer, which worked perfectly
no delays for buffering or nothing).
