…back is feeling better, already I did have a crick in my
neck!, but still got restarted on the weights…I'll be beefcake in no time!...
…read ‘More Horrible Folk’, which is a beautifully
illustrated creepy and unsettling read, it reminds me a little of ‘Injection’,
or at least the ‘Cunning’ part/British folk history side of the ‘Injection’
plot and a little of the witch episode of ‘Inside No. 9’, and is well worth
getting (as is ‘Horrible Folk’, which ‘More Horrible Folk’ is a
sequel/companion too). 8/10.
…also heard that Stan Lee died today, he was 95 years old,
so although he had had a very decent innings, it’s still sad to lose him, whenever you saw him,
he seemed to be having the time of his life, just full of joy. But, and I feel
bad saying this, there was one thing that irked me about many of the tributes
to him, that they said that he created the Marvel characters of the ‘60’s (Spider-Man, the
Fantastic Four, the Hulk, etc). There was no recognition of people like Jack
Kirby or Steve Dikto who had an equally (maybe more) important role in creating
these characters. All it would have taken is to have said co-creator instead of
creator. He was even thanked by Hugh Jackman for having creating Wolverine, when it
was Roy Thomas, Len Wein and John Romita Sr. who created Wolverine!
…and I did the G2 Crossword:
…and Monday’s crossword gets us off to a great, almost
perfect start as I only needed to cheat on one of the 21 clues. The clue was
‘eschewing booze (8)’ and I assumed that the answer was ‘abstinence’, didn’t
bother to check it and clicked straight on “reveal this” only to find out that
the answer was ‘teetotal’. If I had typed in my answer, I would have noticed
that ‘abstinence’ has ten letters and not eight! And then I would have gone for
‘teetotal’ and would have gotten a perfect score! Reminds me of this old saying
“Less haste, more speed”!
