Aka Thursday 25th October
Today I did a little work on my job applications, including
doing a ‘verbal’ test, got a job rejection (but with some useful feedback),
watched all four episodes of season two of ‘Hip-Hop Evolution’ and the first two episodes of ‘The Haunting Of Hill House’.
Season two of ‘Hip-Hop Evolution’ covers, roughly, 1990 to
1995 and goes from 2 Live Crew, and their obscenity row, and Miami Bass, The
Geto Boys, MC Hammer, KRS-One and Boogie Down Productions, Digital Underground,
Native Tongues, including Jungle Brothers, A Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul,
Nas, Notorious B.I.G. and the Wu-Tang Clan. The team behind ‘Hip-Hop Evolution’
do a great job in covering the different aspects of hip-hop, not just sticking
to the big names, but highlighting the pioneers who have been forgotten by the
mainstream. 8/10.
…'Mars Attacks' #1 arrived and I did the G2 crossword:
…which went a tad better as I only needed to cheat on a
third of the clues (six out of 19), but at least I learnt that the ‘mist coming
in from the sea’ is called ‘fret’, that a ‘large peppermint sweet’ is a
‘bullseye’, and re-learnt that ‘bronze’ is an ‘alloy of copper and tin’.
