Day 171

Today I was able to walk into town and do my food shopping without any problems or panic attacks, which was weird considering that last time I tried to walk into town I had to stop after a couple of minutes as I was shaking and feeling really nervous/anxious. So, hopefully it’s a sign that I’m getting better/back to normal. But this time I was able to have a pretty normal day in time and do my shopping:

I also went to see my GP to try to resolve whatever is wrong and I’m being referred to the local ENT clinic.

In between I watched some more Castle episodes and the remake of Black Christmas, called Black Xmas and caught up with my comics reading.

Black Xmas is a not bad remake with a great cast and plenty of scares, but it is let down a bit by having a pretty standard/non-descript baddie, too much time spent explaining why the baddie is a baddie and not having the story set out and decided on being filming (there’s three different alternative endings!). I feel that the cast do a great job, but would have been better served if a bit more time had been spent on the script, which would have moved this up to a really good remake.

Angel Season 11 #7 continues Angel and Fred’s pirate adventure continues, dealing with big time travel ideas, pirates and vampires, it does feel very much as the middle part of a story and as an individual issue it is not an entirely satisfying read, although I’m sure it’d read better which the story is finished and collected.

In Buffy Season 11 #9 we have the great escape and our heroes overcoming great odds, it is full of action, one-liners and heart, and really has the spirit of the TV show, like “I fight dirty” and “Still?” ”We’re all pleasantly surprised”. It’s a really great issue.

The Wild Storm #6 finishes the first arc, sets out what the series is about and sets up future stories and has a great action sequence. More please!

In Clue #2 the plot thickens and the jokes come thick and fast. This an entertaining read and continues to keep the spirit of the film going, while using the advantages of being a comic, e.g. breaking the forth wall without breaking the narrative flow.
