Aka Thursday 11th October
…I re-did the Link Wray edit so that it slows down into the
guitar frenzy section, continued with the weights, after a day of rest
yesterday and read some comics:
'Taarna' #2 and #3 (by Alex de Campi, Esau & Isaac
Escorza, Carlos Cabrera, Adam Wollet and R.G. Llarena) is a adventure sci-fantasy
tale with loads of action and daring-do and dollops of backstory, where we
learn how the world went from the modern world to a hybrid futuristic olde
worlde world. The creative team have created a great story and protagonist you
root for…but because there is little dialogue I kinda feel like I’m getting
less story than there is, which is bizarre! 7/10.
'The Umbrella Academy: Hotel Oblivion' #1, by Gerard Way, Gabriel
Ba, Nate Piekos and Nick Filardi, is a good re-introduction to the Umbrella
Academy gang and universe and nicely sets up the next five issues, where is
Hotel Oblivion, what is Hotel Oblivion and how will it impact our heroes? 7/10.
'Redlands' #7 (by Jordie Bellaire, Vanesa R. Del Rey, Clayton
Clowes, Becca Carey, Kevin O’Mara and Heather Antos) is a beautiful looking and
creepy feeling comic, which gives us background on the witches’ origin’s as we
met their father and Nancy and Casper grow closer?!? 7/10.
'Wildstorm Michael Cray' #12 (by Bryan Hill, N. Steven Harris,
Dexter Vines, Ross Campbell and Simon Bowland) is the last issue, for now, and
ends thing with a bang as Michael tackles John Constantine and Diana Prince
head on and comes to an agreement with his ‘passenger’. 8/10.
'Dead Rabbit' #1 (by Gerry Duggan, John McCrea, Mike Spicer,
Joe Sabino and Will Dennis) is a great first issue and nicely introduces us to Dead
Rabbit his world, his past and his future. There’s plenty of action and emotion
and it already feels like Dead Rabbit exists in a fully formed world and that
we’re only just getting started. 9/10.
…I also did the G2 crossword:
…which had a small upswing from Wednesday’s crossword, with
only having to cheat on just under a seventh of the clues (four out of 26), but
I’m not sure that ‘part of a necklace’ is a great clue for ‘bead’, beads are
found on necklaces, but not all necklaces have beads.
