Day 627

Aka Friday 19th October

…got my Katie Skelly Tarot Cards today, which looks great and came with extra treats:

…and I kinda applied for new job…I was making a new short list and this job had a deadline of 11.59 tonight, but luckily it had the same competencies as a previous application, so I was able to re-use them and met the deadline…

…and I did the G2 crossword:

…which saw no improvement over the last couple of days, as I had to cheat on a third of the clues, seven out of 23, but I did learn that ‘sisal’ is a ‘fibre used in rope-making’, that the ‘musical accompaniment added above a basic melody’ is a ‘descant’ and that a ‘nap’ is a gambling term for ‘hot favourite’, which, unless you already knew it,  was a bit of ultra-tough clue, because there is no way you could have guessed it.

Day 626

Aka Thursday 18th October

…had a slightly chilled day, listened to James O'Brien on LBC and continued watching 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Season Five (eps 9 - 17) and I did the G2 crossword:

…which went almost as bad as yesterday’s crossword, I needed to cheat on eight of the 23 clues, maybe I’m still tried from yesterday’s test 😊! At least I learnt that a ‘sward’ is ‘ground covered by a mat of grass and grass roots’, that ‘Swahili’ is used in east Africa and that ‘Oban’ is a ‘port and holiday centre on the west coast of Scotland’.

Day 625

Aka Wednesday 17th October

…got feedback on my Civil Service Psychometric Test, scored in the 90% percentile (You achieved an Overall Score that was higher than 90% of the comparison group. This places your performance above the middle range of performance of the comparison group on this test.) and I’m left swinging between fine happy/slightly smug and wondering if it’s a really easy test!…

…and it was New Comic Book Day, from which I got these gems:

…and the Fangoria, which has a new Chuck Palahniuk short story in it:

…and I started watching 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Season Five (eps 1 - 8) and I did the G2 crossword:

…which continues a downturn as I have to cheat on nearly half the clues, nine out of 21. The answers just didn’t come to me, I can only assume that I used all my brain power doing the Psychometric Test! But I did learn that a ‘dene’ is a ‘narrow wooded valley’ and I don’t agree that ‘deserter’ is the same as ‘renegade’, being a renegade may involve deserting, but not all deserters are renegades.
