Popped into town to do a quick bit of food show, and as I
was a bit bored I got the ‘Death Wish’ remake starring Bruce Willis. I hadn’t
heard much about it, aside from someone noting that it was an advert for the NRA and
didn’t really get into the characters emotional state.
And that is kinda true,
Bruce Wallis plays a doctor, whose home is broken into while he is on call and
his wife is killed and daughter left in a coma by home invaders. He then trains
himself to use a gun, tracks down the invaders one by one and kills them. A
police detective figures out what he is doing, but because all the invaders are
dead, he lets it slide, if Bruce doesn’t continue as a vigilante.
All the actors do a good job and the action scenes are nice
and actiony, but this remake doesn’t bring anything new and feels like one of a
hundred “ordinary guy takes revenge” films. I wouldn’t recommend that you make
an effect to see this film, but if it’s on and you’ve got nothing else to do, you
might as well watch it (is this the definition of damning with faint praise??? It's defo not "Bruce Willis back to his Die Hard best" as the quote on the front says).
I also did the G2 crossword:
