I woke up today feeling knackered and totally wiped out, but
I managed to go to our local Sainsbury to get my paper and some other bits and
pieces (with just a little feel of unsteadiness/panic). When I got back I
watched The Wright Stuff, a load of Hawaii 5-O episodes and Terry Gilliam’s The Brothers Grimm, as I didn’t feel up to anything more taxing.
Hawaii 5-O – is very much a guilty pleasure, half the pleasure
is seeing actors from other series that I love (e.g. Lost, Buffy/Angel and
Pushing Daises), but have finished/been cancelled in it, such as Daniel Dae
Kim, Grace Park, Masi Oka, Chi McBride, Jorge Garcia, Terry O'Quinn and Julie
Benz. It also stars Scott Caan (son of James Caan) who sometimes it seems to be
doing a parody of his dad (lots of arm movements, but from the elbow down only,
and looking around a lot). The other half is that the storylines are movie plots
condensed down into 42 minutes and the good guys always win. Although there is
a slight issue that the two main actors are white and get to lead most of the stories,
while the Asian, black, etc, characters are the sidekicks and don’t tend to
lead the stories.
The Brothers Grimm – is a great fun film, with Matt Damon
and Peter Stormare doing a wonderful job chewing scenery like there is no
tomorrow, while Health Ledger and Lena Headey do an excellent job grounding the
story and giving it emotional depth. Look a Brothers Grimm story there are
laughs, tragedy, thrills and spills and in the end the good guys win and live happily
ever after.
I haven’t gone to my GP about this ‘feeling unwell/panic’ as
I’ve got to go back to the GPs in a week and a half anyway to review how I’m going
with the Serc, but it is definitely affecting my job hunting as I see a job
that I might be able to apply for, but then think ‘…but how can I go to the interview,
if I can’t leave the house without feeling really bad…’. My hope is that some
more rest will sort this out (or that the GP will) and in a week or so I’ll be
back to normal and can go out to the shops, interviews, meet up with friends,
etc. without worrying/panicking and not doing things.
I also read Clue #1, which takes inspiration from the Clue film by having its tongue in its cheek and not being
a straight-ahead murder mystery and is a fun read:
…which left me looking forward to #2. My favourite part is the
butler who is aware he is in a comic and brakes the fourth wall to back jokes
and asides:
