Aka Tuesday 24th
March 2020
Did some actual
working from home today, started at 6.30am, which meant I was finished by
2.30pm. It was a bit weird just having one screen to work on and having to use
the mousepad and not a proper mouse. And after work was done for the day I
pottered about, did some exercise, watched some news, check twitter, texted
with friends…
…today was also the
day it was announced that Albert Uderzo, Asterix’s co-creator, had passed away.
Asterix (along with Tintin) is one of the first things I can remember reading
and enjoying and started a love of comics that has lasted my entire life. And
Asterix is so good, a proper all-ages comic, enjoyable by all, with more humour
and satirism being revealed as you re-read as youngster, as a teenager, as a
young adult, as a grown up, etc. The above picture was created by Bill Sienkiewicz.
…which keeps up the positive vibe, only having to cheat on
an eighth of the clues (three out of 24). The rest of the clues were straight
forward for the little grey cells to plough through. And we learnt that
‘pewter’ is an ‘alloy of tin and some lead’, ‘Lyttelton’, also known as
“Humph”, was an English jazz musician and broadcaster who died in 2008, and
that concerning wine ‘sec’ means dry…
