Days 868 – 916 part 1

Aka Monday 17th June 2019 – Sunday 4th August 2019

I’ve gotten very, very behind on this blog. At the start I had the idea that this blog would be a diary of me leaving one job, enjoying some time off and getting a new job. And I guess it has to a certain extent, although sometimes it has been more a list of what I brought that day (or week) and some half-baked thoughts about why I enjoyed (or didn’t) that book, film, CD, comic, etc. that I had brought/seen.

But since I’ve started working again, I haven’t had the free time or drive to keep things up to date. And that’s why I’m about a month and a half behind schedule. So, this post and the next are me attempting to catch up and get back on track. Let’s hope it goes well!

Work wise this month and a half covers the sixth to thirteenth weeks that I’ve been temping at my local Council. And I’ve pretty much settled in now, I know my team pretty well and how much messing about can be done and when to be serious. I pretty much know what I’m doing and I’m not asking for much help. Or if I am it’s to confirm my initial thoughts rather than just asking for the answer.

But, the contract comes to end in four weeks (although we’ve been verbally told that it will be extended, but we haven’t been told this in writing, so make of that what you will!), so it’s time to start looking at job adverts and applying for stuff again. Wish me luck!

The only downside to working is that it has cut down my time for socialising and doing fun stuff. My workday is pretty much up at 6.30am to get ready to go to work, getting in to work at 8,45am and working till 12pm or 1pm and taking an hour for lunch (normally a sandwich), then back to work till 5.15pm. Then it’s back home to do some weights for an hour or so (although most of the time seems to be taken up with resting between reps 😊), then cooking and eating dinner, and then it’s about 8.30pm - 9pmish, and then I watch TV or Netflix or a DVD till 11pmish and bit the hay by midnight. And the weekend seems to be full of little naps catching up on sleep I’ve missed during the week and catching up on TV, with very little time for reading or listening to music. Which means that I’ve built up an impressive amount of books, comics and music to read or listen too, but not read or listened to yet! But I’m trying to schedule my time better, so that I can catch up on my reading and listening, I’ve just got to bed it in and not get caught up with binge watching shows!

The only “big” thing to happen to me during this month and half is that in mid-July I caught a vomiting bug which took me out of action for two days, and it meant that I didn’t eat for two days, which meant that I lost about half a stone, so swings and roundabouts! The day before the vomiting I felt like I had sun or heat stroke the morning, but felt better after I’d had some lunch, then felt a little queasy/unsettled in the evening…and then at about 3am on Wednesday I was throwing up, what felt like everything I had ever eaten! And that continued for the rest of Wednesday and Thursday was spent recuperating. I felt as weak as a kitten, the perils of getting old I guess; it takes so much longer to recover from being ill…I still felt very weak and knackered Friday, but well enough to go back to work (and start earning, the two days off sick have cost me about £140 pounds)…
