Aka Saturday 11th May 2019
On my way to get my newspaper, I had a
nice Long Walk along the Thames Delta and the park:
…I walked 10.80km (or 6.71 miles) in 2 hours, 9 minutes and
12 seconds, which burnt 1,000 calories and took 14,133. It took a little longer
today as my back was still giving me a little gyp, nothing major, but even to
small me down a tad.
…and I did the G2 Crossword:
…which, with a couple of bumps, crossword brings the crossword
week to an okay end, with having to cheat on a sixth of the clues. Half the
clues were straight forward to answer, but the rest were a real grind to get
(or not get as the case may be), but I did learn that the ‘capstan’ is a
‘ship’s windlass used for lifting heavy weights’, that a ‘condor’ is a ‘large
American vulture’ and that a ‘dinette’ is a ‘small area off a kitchen’ and I
should have gotten ‘vacate’ from ‘leave (a place previously occupied)’. Onwards
to next week!
