Aka Saturday 4th May 2019
As it’s Saturday I managed to get in a Long Walk along the
Thames Delta and the nearby park, the sun was out, but so was the breeze, which
brought the temperatures down, but it was still nice out:
…I managed 10.58km (or 6.57 miles) in 1 hour, 59 minutes and
34 seconds, which burnt 1,000 calories and took 13,397 steps.
…and I think this morning’s exercise helped with Saturday’s
crossword as I only had to cheat on one twenty-fourth of the clues (one out of
24). The answers flowed like Summer wine, except for the answer to ‘Cathedral
city in East Anglia’, which is ‘Ely’, let down by my lack of geographical
knowledge, but still a good end to this week’s crosswords (forgetting about the
cryptic crossword I tried and couldn’t get any of the 23 clues!!!)
…and I watched the re-make of ‘Robocop’, which was okay, but
lacked the bite and humour of the original film, and felt more like a pilot for
a TV show, rather than a feature film. It’s got a good cast and CGI, and there are some interesting glimpses at what makes a human being a human being and corporate greed, but they aren't developed very far and, to me, the film mostly felt meh, although Samuel L Jackson was great as the right-wing media
pundit. 5/10.
