Day 821

Aka Wednesday 1^st May 2019

Back in work today and I’ve got new forms to go through and input, and I don’t think there’s much more than a day and a half’s work there, maybe two days’ worth, but when it’s done, it’s done and I’ll be back on the applying for jobs horse. Talking about work, we had a fire alarm test, which gave me a little flashback to the Department of Health fire alarm test, because it sounded a little like the last few minutes of ‘Yeah (Crass version)’ by LCD Soundsystem. I also had a quick read of the internal staff newsletter, and again, with the use of certain words, like ‘agile’ and ‘entrepreneurial’, it triggered a flashback to years of reading through management speak to hide what is really meant!

…which goes even better than yesterday’s crossword, as I only had to cheat on a twelfth of the clues (two out of 24), the answers were just they, flowing out of pen without any struggle. Except for not knowing that ‘Lerwick’ is the ‘most northerly town in the British Isles’ and not getting ‘blithe’ from ‘carefree and happy’, maybe it was because I was back in the office, back at work, which was sparking the little grey cells.
