Aka Saturday 9th February 2019
…had a second day of rest, due to my back…it wasn’t hurting
much, but I didn’t want to risk making it worst, so no weights or long walks
today…
…I also read:
‘Cemetery Beach’ #6: The horrors of the new world hot Mike
very hard as he nearly goes off the deep end in a very bloody manner, But Grace
pulls him back and it looks like they will make it back to Cemetery Beach a-ok,
but, oh no, the President is taking personal control of the effort to get Mike
and Grace. A great action and fun filled issue. 8/10.
‘Giant Days’ #47: The quality doesn’t dip in this fun filled
and feelings packed issue, as Daisy learns to drive, Susan meets McGraw’s
brother and Esther gets closer to Thompson (via his mental wellbeing animal). This
is a nigh-perfect example of what comics can do in their blend of words and pictures.
9/10.
‘Wytches - Bad Egg Halloween Special’: This special finishes
the story that was originally published in Image Plus in gruesome and downbeat
style. We learn more about the Wytches and their acolytes in a beautifully
illustrated and written story. 8/10.
‘The Umbrella Academy – Hotel Oblivion’ #5: And the action
hits the fan! There’s plenty going on in this issue, with a near perfect
balance between action, fights & biff, pow, bams and plot development, who
is helping The Séance? Who is helping The White Violin and are they really
helping her? 8/10.
…and I did the G2 Crossword:
…and today’s crossword brings the week to a pretty good
close as I only needed to cheat on a twelfth of the clues (two out of 24),
would have been a clean sweep if I’d known that ‘Acacia’ is a ‘spiny shrub with
clusters of yellow or white flowers’ and if I hadn’t been stuck on thinking
about mops for ‘wipe the floor with’ I might have gotten ‘trounce’.
