Aka Friday 25th January 2019
Today I accepted two invitations to interview, for posts at DEFRA
and the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government, for next
Wednesday, so spent a lot of today prepping for them…
…and I walked 5.26km (3.27 miles) in 1 hour 6 minutes and 28
seconds, which burnt through 576 calories and took 7,106 steps…
…and I read:
'Mars Attacks' #4: in which things get very dark and hit’s you
in the feels, as we see a vicious encounter between Spencer & his Dad,
Major Carbutt, and a group of Martian’s and Spencer gets the upper hand and goes
on a mini-rampage. 9/10.
'Buffy The Vampire Slayer (Boom!)' #1: which resets the Buffy
comic universe and we start back at the beginning with Buffy new to Sunnydale
and only just meeting Willow and Xander. It’s a well written and illustrated
comic and it’s interesting to see a new version of Buffy, but it feels a bit of
a shame that it’s been decided to reboot, rather continue the storylines
developed over the last ten or so years. And my ‘problems’ with the issue are
tied into that, I was enjoying the story, but every now and then I’d be
distracted from the new continuity, pulled out of the moment, by
call-backs/references to the “original” storyline (although I’m not sure if
they were planned or just me seeing them). But it’s early days and I’m
interested in seeing where this new continuity goes. 8/10.
'Kaijumax' Season 4 #4: has heart breaking scenes of Go-Go
Space Baby giving her baby away for adoption & heart chilling scenes as she
seeks vengeance on Zhang for killing her lover, Zonn, with get a new Queen and I
found Miss Haversham!
Once again Zander Cannon has told a emotional deep story
with kaiju, who have more personality and humanity than 90% of the other comics
on the stand today. 9/10.
…and I got the Lego Star Wars Magazine to get the free Luke
Skywalker mini figure:
…and I did the G2 Crossword:
…and the good times are back with today’s crossword as I
only had to cheat on one twenty-sixth of the clues (one out of 26). The answers
just flowed like sweet, sweet wine and it would have been a clean sweep if I’d
be able to get ‘embattled’ from ‘beset by difficulties’. Will this continue
with tomorrow’s crossword, let’s find out!
