Aka Wednesday 5th December 2018
No New Comic Book Day for me today, as I’ve got the
interview on Friday and I can’t afford to make two separate trips to London in
the same week…and soon I won’t be able to make any (non-job hunting) trips to
London ☹…
…I applied for Universal Credit, which involved filling in
an online form, a short phone call to book an appointment for my ‘commitments
meeting’ at my local JobCentre Plus, which will happen next Monday (I’ll need
to take along my NI Card and Driving Licence), and that was that, so far it’s
been very straight forward. I guess now I just wait to have my meeting, for the
outcome of that meeting to be fed into the system and then wait to get a
response to my application. My plan/hope is that the job interview this Friday
goes great and I get that job, that I get UC, which tides me over until I get
my first pay cheque…
…worked on my presentation, so I now have a long version
that clocks in at around seven minutes and a shorter version that clocks in in
just under five minutes. The main difference is that the long version goes into
more detail. I’m thinking of using the long version as a handout to be taken
away and presenting the shorter version. I’ve also re-read the job advert and
description, although I will have another read tomorrow and Friday morning 😊
Tomorrow will be spent going over the two versions again just to make sure that
they are as I want them, deciding whether to have a handout, transfer the short
version onto cue cards, making sure that I’ll got all the documentation and
materials that I’ll need (driving license, birth certificate, bank statement,
note book, cue cards and small water bottle), I’ll also need to choose which
tie to wear and to polish my work shoes! Now it’s time to rest and recharge the
batteries…
…and I did the G2 Crossword:
…which went pretty badly, and I have to cheat on nearly a
quarter of the clues (four out of 18). The answers were a real struggle to get,
maybe because I’m a little worried about the job interview on Friday or the UC
meeting on Monday! But I did learn that a ’student of races and peoples’ is an
‘ethologist’.
