Aka Monday 27th August
Today was a bank holiday, which has little meaning for us
jobless individuals, except that everyone else is not at work! I spent mine
reading ‘Ghost Money’:
…a great story with gorgeous art (not just in terms of the
characters, but the design of the future world and its technology), set in
2030, about terrorism, espionage, politics and relationships & family. Its has
elements that feel like they have been torn from tomorrow’s headlines and gives us a glimpse of what the day after tomorrow might be like.
I had also popped into Town earlier and picked up the DVD of ‘Ghost Stories’…
…which was ok, but not it isn’t great. It’s well acted and
is scary, but <spoilers> none of the three stories have an end, they have
lots of building up of tension and horror, but we don’t get the conclusion of the
stories. And then when we get the reveal that he’s in a coma, with it all being
in his mind and he’s experiencing a bad dream based on childhood memories and
glimpses of the hospital staff, for me, kinda negates the supernatural elements
of story. It's a nice journey, but our destination of '...it's all a dream...' isn't one I wanted to go too.
I also watched ‘Tru Calling’ S2 eps 1-4 & ‘The Avengers’
– ‘Too Many Christmas Trees’, ‘Silent Dust’, ‘The Girl From Auntie’ and ‘The
Thirteenth Hole’ and I did the G2 crossword:
