Aka Thursday 15th August 2019 - Sunday 18th August 2019
And again I’ve gotten really behind on keeping this blog up
to date, so (once again) I’m going to rush through things to try to get back up
to date. During these four days I:
…brought a comic:
…read some great comics:
…finished reading Mick Houghton’s ‘Fried & Justified’,
which recounts his time in music PR, working for bands/artists including the
Jesus & Mary Chain, The KLF, Echo & The Bunnymen and Julian Cope. Which
gives a great behind the scenes account of some of the great music and music
events that happen between 1978-98:
….picked up some more Lego Star Wars goodness:
and I did the G2
Crosswords:
…Thursday’s (15/08/2019) crossword went a little worse, I
had to cheat on a sixth of the clues (three out of 18), but I did learn that
the ‘mulberry’ is a ‘tree whose leaves are eaten by silkworms’ and that a
‘squib’ is a ‘jumping firework’ and not just a special effect. Not sure why I
didn’t get ‘yielding’ from ‘submissive, maybe I need to brush up on my Fifty
Shades… 😊
…and Friday’s (16/08/2019) crossword made Thursday’s look
like a masterclass in solving crosswords as I had to cheat on over a quarter of
the clues (five out of nineteen). It was a real struggle to get the answers I
did get. I literally should have done better, especially as ‘literally’ was one
of the answers I missed! But I did learn that a ‘Kelpie’ is a ‘Scottish water
sprite – Australian sheepdog’.
…and Saturday’s (17/08/2019) crossword ended the week on an
average note as I had to cheat on a fifth of the clues (five out of 24) again.
I think the little grey cells were a little hangover as I should have gotten
‘pastrami’ from ‘seasoned smoked beef, served in thin slices’, but I went for
‘salami’ (even though it would a couple more a’s and i’s 😊),
that ‘agar’ is a ‘food thickening agent obtained from seaweed’ and ‘sulk’ from
‘(be in) a huff’. Onwards to next week…
