Today was New Comic Book Day, but before I picked up today’s
cream of the comics crop and I got today’s Guardian, for the G2 crossword:
I also brought a couple of DVDs, Suburbicon, Tremors boxset
and 400 Days:
400 Days is a nice little sci-fi thriller, about a four-person
crew (Brandon Routh, Caity Lotz, Ben Feldman, and Dane Cook) being tested to
see if they can survive Mars mission like conditions of 400 days in isolation,
but then something happens. The script plays out this Twilight Zoneish idea well,
and with the cast, builds believable relationships between the four main protagonists
and slowly increases the tension, until it erupts, and we’re thrust into this
weird situation with the crew. Tremors is a great monster b-movie, a fun script
well acted by the cast, and is as good as I remember it. It was a bit weird
that it was cheaper to buy the boxset than just Tremors on its own, although I
haven’t dared which the sequels as I’ve heard mixed reviews about them 😊
I also saw this Google Do It advert and thought that someone
should “edit” it so that it includes something along the lines of “…and listen
into all your conversations, turning you into nothing but data that we (Google)
can sell onto other people”:
