Days 343 to 349

Aka 8th to 14th Jan 2018

This week I:

1. Watched more of the Person Of Interest boxset (more of which later).

2. Brought the best of this week’s NCBD crop and the latest 2000AD partwork, which features Judge Dredd stories drawn by Carlos Ezquerra (the co-creator of Judge Dredd), including the Mayor Mushroom story, which is one of the earliest Judge Dredd stories I can remember reading.

3. Read the Cinder & Ashe TPB and Goro #3. Cinder & Ashe was a great read, with great art, about trying to cover up the past and how the past will come back to bite you, unless you face it and deal with it (both for Cinder and Ashe and for the villain of the story). I found Goro #3 a little confusing, the issue shows us the assassination of a business man, and as with #1 and #2 the art is great, but I wasn’t sure if we were watching one assassin doing the job, with glimpses of how he was seeing things or if they were several hitmen and that was why there were different POVs. Although that was on my first read and it might be clearer to me on the second read (or maybe we’re might to feel a little confused and the next issue will resolve it?).

4. Brought the new album from Trevor Jackson,  From Y.O.U, which has some great ambienty hip-hop tracks, kinda like a cross between Wu-Tang and The Orb, and the new Black Rebel Motorcycle Club album, Wrong Creatures, which is good old fashion rock ‘n’ roll.

5. Brought the DVD of Beavis and Butt-Head Do America. Like lots of other people I used to love the Beavis and Butt-Head show, even though I didn’t recognise a lot of the bands they had on, and, at the time, I remember the film being even better than the show. Twenty years (or so) later someone mentions Office Space, which reminds me of Beavis and Butt-Head, which leads to me getting the DVD of Beavis and Butt-Head Do America. And the film is as good as I remember, the writers did a great job of keeping the idiocy of Beavis and Butt-Head and adding pathos, all in a long-form storyline that believably allows Beavis and Butt-Head to get into all kinds of different situations.

6. Built a lego Kylo Ren ship:

7. Got annoyed when someone left a Christmas tree in the street, with no consideration for how people with prams and buggy’s, people on crutches or with walking sticks, people using mobility scooters and other people with mobility issues would get past it. It’s a symptom of the modern world where people don’t care or don’t think about how their actions affect other people. Tsk Tsk.

8. Did this week’s G2 crosswords:

 9. Took some pictures during my morning constitutional walk:
