Third day back in the office and a second afternoon spent on reception, so that a colleague could carry on training one of the new team members (mine was OOTO). And I went on a mini-spending spree! I brought ‘William Blake vs The World’ by John Higgs:

…I highly rate John Higgs as a writer, but I’d put off getting this book as I’m not a William Blake fan, but I just saw it in the bookshop as I was looking for the new ‘Slow Horses’ novella (which the bookshop didn’t have, but have ordered for me) and I trust that Mr Higgs has written an interesting and engaging book. I also got the latest ‘Lego Minecraft’ magazine, for the great funky spider:

…and when I got home the postie had delivered my copy of ‘The Exciting World Of…’ by The Octagon Man:

…which I got because I’d recently read an article on John Carpenter’s soundtracks and remembered that on this album there is a track that samples the ‘Assault on Precinct 13’ soundtrack. Also, it’s a great album of robotic electro or maybe techno-tinged electro is a better description? Either way it’s a top album…and while listening I did today’s G2 Crossword:

…and we’re still on the good foot with Thursday’s crossword, only having to cheat on 12% of the clues (three out of 25). A little bit down compared to yesterday’s grid, but today’s grid was chewier and gave the little grey cells plenty to chew over. We learnt that ‘aioli’ is a ‘garlic sauce’ and that a ‘lamina’ is a ‘thin plate’. Although we should have gotten ‘sordid’ from ‘dirty – unethical’, a silly slip…
