Day 2963

Aka Monday 2nd January 2023

…my cold is almost gone, but I’m still getting these chest aches, it’s not a sharp pain, more the dull ache you get from a bruise or sprain, so I’ll be taking it relatively easy today (plus it’s a Bank Holiday)…and probably for the next few days…which involved watching some films. First up was ‘S.W.A.T.’:

…which is a ridiculously stupid film that makes no real logical sense if you think about what is happening, but it is a great popcorn, switch-off-your-critical-facilities action film. Next up was a similar stupid film, ‘Faster’:

…about a guy getting revenge on the men who killed his brother. And it’s just bad, it’s a very generic story and nothing new or unique or just slightly different is none with it, so you feel no involvement with any of the characters. Just complete by rote, no heart or soul…and I listened to ‘Claremont Editions, Vol. 3’:

…a great compilation of laidback, jazzy, housey, motorik songs from Claremont 56. It feels like you’re relaxing on a yacht or by pool somewhere warm, sunny and peaceful, with a colourful cocktail in your hand. 10/10…and I did today’s G2 Crossword:

…and the first crossword of 2023 get’s the crossword week, and year, off to a damn solid start. We only had to cheat on 9.52% of Monday’s clues (two out of 21). The grid was a little chewy to start with, like we forgot that a ‘Mahatma’ is a ‘revered Indian sage’, but the little grey cells soon got to grips with it and then powered their way through the clues like termites through wood. And we learnt that Naomi Osaka is a Japanese tennis champion. Roll on the rest of the crossword week (and year)…
