Day 795

Aka Friday 5th April 2019

Walked into town to do some food shopping and to pick up the new Prins Thomas album, ‘Ambitions’, which meant that I walked 5.52km (3.43miles), which took 1 hour 18 minutes and 39 seconds, which burnt 528 calories and 8,026 steps…

…’Ambitions’ is a very summery, enjoying a barbeque in the garden, type of album…an album equally at home at soundtracking a chilled evening in your garden, out and about on your Walkman/car stereo or for chilling out too after a night out. 7/10. These are my initial thoughts on each of the album’s songs:
  • ‘Foreplay’ nice and ambienty album opener…
  • ‘XSB’ chilled, chuggy track, with a touch of the forlorn to it…
  • ‘Feel The Love’ a more traditional nu-disco/house song…
  • ‘Ambitions’ 12 minutes of bubbling, driving, analogue, tropical/Caribbean goodness…
  • ‘Fra Miami Til Chicago’ 10 minutes of delicate keyboards and driving, but subtle, bass pads, with a faint hint of a nursery lullaby…
  • ‘Urmannen’ starts out with a subdued tribal feel to it, and then it builds, with swirling keyboard lines, with a touch of the John Carpenters and the ‘Risky Businesssoundtrack, and reminds me of walking through a city late in the evening, after work has finished, but before the pubs, bars and clubs have gotten busy, almost like a theme tune for a private eye…maybe my favourite track on the album
  • ‘Sakral’ sounds like a hymn from the Church of Future Funk (though that might be due to the organ) and reminds of the early John Carpenter soundtracks, a more frantic ‘Urmannen’, that builds and builds...and might be my joint favourite track 😊
…I also worked on and completed an application for a post with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea council, it’s a bit of a journey to get there from home, but still within the one hour and half of travel mandated by my Universal Credit agreement…

…and I did the G2 Crossword:

…which went a tad better than Thursday’s crossword, as I only had to cheat on an eighth of the clues (three out of 23). Mostly of the clues came easy peasy, even the president of Egypt between 1981 and 2011, but those three, ‘spree’, ‘turgid’ and ‘rosemary’, just wouldn’t sort out for me, maybe the little grey cells are getting tired out with all the concentrating on job applications?
