Aka Tuesday 26th March 2019
Had my long walk today and walked 10.08km (6.26miles) in 1
hour 52 minutes and 44 seconds, which burnt 1,100 calories and took 12,691
steps:
…when I got home, I saw on Twitter that Marvel will be
putting out a ‘Death’s Head’ comic, which led to this Twitter poll:
…and it’s obvs that Death’s Head would pick Susan, Daisy is
too nice & good hearted, Esther is too goth & not entirely of/in this
world, but Susan can be hard & cold & pragmatic (a bit like Death’s
Head himself)…
…and I re-watched ‘White Lighting’ and its sequel ‘Gator’ and
both films star Burt Reynolds as Robert "Gator" McKlusky, a moonshine
runner in the South. In ‘White Lighting’, Gator finds out that his brother has
been killed by a corrupt sheriff, but he can’t do anything about because he’s
in prison. So, he makes a deal with the Feds to get evidence of the sheriff’s
corruption, which results in plenty of car chases and crashes, fist fights and
hi-jinxes. In ‘Gator’, Gator is recruited to take down an old friend, Bama McCall,
a gangster who owns, via corruption and bribery and violence, a Southern county,
which results in fewer car chases and crashes, but more fist fights and hi-jinxes.
Both films are kinda like grown up versions of the ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ (although
‘Dukes of Hazzard’ came later and was based on another film, ‘The Moonrunners’)
with the plots just an excuse for Burt to be Burt and have fun, which comes
across on the screen. Both films are fun action comedies and its clear why ‘Archer’
is such a fan. 7/10 for both.
…and I did the G2 Crossword:
…which went much better than yesterday’s crossword as I only
had to cheat on an eighth of the clues (three out of 25), and I might have done
better if my geography was better and I’d known that ‘Nairobi’ is the ‘Kenyan
capital’ and that ‘Guava’ is a ‘tropical fruit with yellow skin and pink pulp’.
If I had known that it’d be so helpful, I wouldn’t have dropped it as a lesson
back in high school!
