Day 781

Aka Friday 22nd March 2019

Went into town to do a little food shopping and to pick up ‘On The Line’ by ‘Jenny Lewis’…which meant that I walked 5.43km (3.37miles) in 1 hour 17 minutes and 22 seconds, which burnt 631 calories and took 7,894 steps…

…and when I got back home I started, completed and submitted a fresh job application, for an 'Information Officer' post, which should be interesting work, but I’m in a bit of rut with job applications, where I as I’m working on the application I just see negatives and over judge myself on whether I meet the criteria. I do meet the criteria, otherwise I wouldn’t bother writing the application, but I think that my experience isn’t good enough, even though I’ve produced work for Ministers, Secretaries of State and Prime Ministers, I just don’t feel good enough. Maybe it’s a form of imposter syndrome? Hopefully I’ll be able to shake it off soon…

…and while doing this latest application I listened to ‘On The Line’ by ‘Jenny Lewis’, and it’s a very enjoyable album, of country tinged with indie rock or indie rock tinged with country tales from Ms Lewis’ life (or at least I assume they are). ‘On The Line’ is the kinda album that makes you feel like you’re sitting poolside, sipping on a fruity drink with nothing to do but relax and unwind. I think ‘Hollywood Lawn’ is my favourite track, it sounds modern and timeless at the same time, with an almost dirge-like drum beat, while the rest of the instruments are more upbeat, but then there’s ‘Do Si Do’, which reminds me a little of ‘60’s girl pop and 'One Dove'/'Dot Allsion', and ‘Little White Dove’, which sounds like a cross between 'Dolly Parton' and 'Prince'. A great album. 8/10.

…and I did the G2 Crossword:

…which went pretty bad as I had to cheat on a fifth of the clues (four out of 19), I think the little grey cells are getting tired as a lot of the other clues took a bit of grinding out when they really should have come to me a bit quicker, but at least I learnt that ‘peri’ are the ‘fairy of Persian folklore’. Also, I noticed in the grid a few decent band/song/character names – ‘Lass Bunfight’, ‘Snivel Yearly’, ‘Stared Ripple’ and ‘Odysseus Sash’.
