Day 716

Aka Wednesday 16^th January 2019

Back to my morning exercise walk (I walked a total of 9.03km (or 5.61miles) in 1hour 43minutes and 28seconds, which took 11,524 steps and burnt 974 calories)…

…no New Comic Book Day today for me, as there was just two comics, 'Firefly’ #3 and 'The Wicked and The Divine' #41, out this week I wanted, so I ebay’ed them and will be getting them by post, rather than spend £25 to go into town to get them…

…and I read:

‘By Night’ #7‘: another fun issue as the stakes are rising as the ‘portal’ world intrudes into the real world and meet Chip and his brother Andy and Jane and Heather catch up with Barney. A treat of an issue, with humour and emotion, as the story builds to its conclusion and we start to see the consequences of traveling to the ‘portal’ world. 8/10.

‘Accell’ #17: This series is an interesting take on superheroes in the real world and #17 is a fun issue as Daniel’s powers grow and bring on an extreme change and the bad guys decide to become supervillains. 7/10. 

‘Bubba Ho-Tep and the Cosmic Bloodsuckers’ #3 – 5: I really enjoyed the film ‘Bubba Ho-Tep’ and this series has matched it in terms of ideas, but it’s lacking a little in the execution.  And it feels a little too much like a storyboard for a film rather than a story in its own right. 5/10. 

…and I got feedback from Basildon Hospital job…in a nutshell, I didn't get the job, but the interview went well and my application was good, but I lacked experience, which other candidates had, so it’s back to looking for new jobs to apply for…

…and I did the G2 Crossword:

…and we dip back down with today’s crossword, as I had to cheat on a third of the clues (eight out of 24). Not good! I just couldn’t figure out the answers, the little grey cells weren’t working ☹ But I did learn that ‘mazurka’ is a ‘Polish folk dance’ and ‘drachm’ is an ‘unit of apothecary weight’, so swings and roundabouts.
