Went for a late afternoon exercise walk and walked 7.56km (or 4.7miles) in
1h27minutes, which took 9,705 steps and burnt 817 calories, now I’ve just got
to get back to these exercise walks being a regular thing, no more slacking!...and I took plenty of pictures:
…and Sarah Horrocks’s ‘The Bacchae’ arrived in the post and
looks great and bonkers…
…I also read the new ‘Firefly’ comic and ‘Dr. Horrible: Best Friends Forever’ one-shot, both of which took me back to the 2000’s, back to my
younger days when I had a job, no anxiety and the future laying in front of me
(compared to the haggard, broken, anxiety ridden, unemployed present day me!!!).
‘Firefly’ #1 is a great start to the story, setting out who the
characters are and how they relate to each other and setting up the plot for
this tale of the Firefly crew. And it looks to be a meaty plot involving Mal
and Zoe’s army days and possible war crimes. The only problem I had is that the
franchise has moved from Dark Horse to BOOM! Studios, which means that they
have ditched (at least for now) the Dark Horse storyline, which was set after
the movie and exploring a new rebellion and have set this story before the movie.
But it does mean that we get Wash and Book back, so swings and roundabouts.
8/10.
‘Dr. Horrible: Best Friends Forever’ is set after the online
series and explores the friendship that has grown between Dr. Horrible and
Captain Hammer as they help out a fellow superperson in need. It doesn’t go as
dark as ‘Firefly’ #1, but ten years on from the online series, it captures the spirit
of the online series perfectly and is a fun read, with a slightly bittersweet
ending. 8/10.
…re-watched ‘Thief’, which feels like James Cann being James
Caan, a man’s man and a stand-up guy, taking no shit from anyone. 9/10, a great
film with a cracking score…
…and I did the G2 Crossword:
…which the upswing has stopped, and I needed to cheat on
nearly a third of the clues, seven out of 23, maybe my brain has relaxed,
switched off for the weekend?!? But I did learn that ‘Sandringham’ is in
Norfolk, that ‘Essen’ is the ‘industrial centre of the Ruhr and that the
‘Moorhen’ is a ‘medium-sized, blackish aquatic bird with long toes’.
