Day 616

Aka Monday 8th October

Today Tula Lotay’s sketchbook ‘Hiraeth’ arrived:

…and it’s full of great art, with sketches of superheroes (e.g. Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn), films (e.g. Bladerunner, Mad Max) and TV shows (e.g. Stranger Things) and others. There is a wistfulness to the drawings, which is appropriate as Hiraeth “is a Welsh word which means 'nostalgia', or, more commonly, 'homesickness'. Many Welsh people claim 'hiraeth' is a word which cannot be translated, meaning more than solely "missing something" or "missing home." To some, it implies the meaning of missing a time, an era, or a person. It is associated with the bittersweet memory of missing something or someone, while being grateful of that/ their existence.”

I never got sketchbooks when I was younger, it seemed odd to just look at drawings/art without a story/narrative to follow, but now I get them and can appreciate the artistry and skill being displayed.

…I also re-started my weights regime again, hopeful this time I’ll be able to better stick to it and get some proper, long-term benefit from it…

…and I did the G2 crossword:

…which went really great, with only having to cheat on two of the 25 clues, so close to a clean sweep, except that I couldn’t get ‘promote’ from ‘move up – market’, I just got ‘propose’, but I did learn that ‘anodyne’ also means a painkilling medicine, not just dull or boring.
