I have really got behind on this blog (it is the 26th
July as I type these words!!! So, the next few entries will be pretty brief!!!)
This week (Monday 26th March to Sunday 1st April I:
Finished watching Season 3 of Twin Peaks and it was good to catch
up with all the characters and see what happened in the nearly thirty-year gap
between now and Season 2. And I think that was my favourite bit of Season 3,
the “weird bits”, like episode/part 8, were fun and intriguing and Bob being
caught was satisfying, the best bit was just being with these characters.
I also saw the live action Justice League film, which was
ok, so good bits, some not so good, but it wasn’t as good as the animated DC
films, which, to me, better get the characters. And I saw American Made, which
was fun and entertaining, but felt a bit too much like a series of events rather than a story,
which I guess it should as it’s based on a real person’s story and real life
isn’t like a movie! It also left me thinking about how American’s view their
history, because American Made sets out how the CIA facilitated drug barons, South
American rebels and other criminal activities, which should shock and appal, but
because it’s Tom Cruise doing these things is it more palatable and forgivable?
I also brought some CDs, ‘With The Beatles’, for their cover
of ‘Money’, which is great (as are the other covers), but I haven’t listened to the rest of album as I
think that The Beatles are pretty much the most over rated band in the world
and ‘Night Works’ by Layo and Bushwacka!, is a great album, which has a kinda mixtape
feel, as there are a couple of short tracks (like radio static) that act as intro’s
or bridging to the next “proper” track.
I also listened to two R.E.M. Best Ofs, as they have too many
songs to fit onto one best of (or it’s because of switching record labels and the
labels cashing!) and the new Jagwar Ma album, ‘Every Now & Then’, on which
Jagwar Ma sound more comfortable or have more grown into their sound (I think
the NME would call it ‘nu-baggy’) and it’s a great album.
Brought some very great comics on NCBD:
Watched James Acaster shows on Netflix, and they are very
funny and you should watch them asap.
I did the G2 crossword:
And got very little little sleep this week, sometimes it
felt like I only managed an hour or so a night, which meant that I felt very
lightheaded and woozy during the daytime. There was a “sweet spot” in the late
morning/early afternoon where I’d feel ok for a couple of hours, but aside from
that I just felt wrecked and knackered.
