I went make to my GP and explained how the prochlorperazine
hadn’t made my vertigo better, but had made it worse, especially with the side
effects (increased heart rate, like I’d downed a load of Red Bull) and
sleepiness/drowsiness. So, I’m back on the betahistine and I feel much better,
but we agreed that I’d go back in month and we’d review if it is still working.
As I’d gone to the GPs, I also popped into town and got a
couple of DVDs (I really need to stop buying new DVDs and start watching the
ones I’ve already brought!):
So, I had a bit of a film day and watched John Wick: Chapter
2, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, Some Like It Hot and Predator.
John Wick: Chapter 2, pretty much continues on straight from John Wick, but more international,
bigger battles with more red-shirts and more myth/backstory building and ends
setting up an even more hyper Chapter 3. Basically, if you liked the first you’ll
love the sequel.
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, again if you’ve liked/loved the previous films, you’ll like/love The Final
Chapter. There’s big battles and big SFX, a slight disconnect from the previous
film (these sequels have done a good job in using what worked in the previous
film(s) and ditching what didn’t, but it does sometimes make the start of the new
film a little jarring, e.g. the last film ended at the White House and this
Chapter picks up after a big battle (or maybe something else) has destroyed the
White House – it’d be interesting to see how they stand up to a binge watch)
and a nice tying up of the overarching storyline started in the first film. But
I don’t think there’s anything to turn a hater of the Resident Evil films into
a lover.
Some Like It Hot, I’ve never seen all of Some Like It Hot before, I’ve only seen it from when the
story is in Florida, which means that I’d never know how violent it was. You
don’t expect a comedy to start and end with a load of gangsters being bumped
off! This a great comedy and if you’ve never seen it, you are missing out.
Today was the 30th anniversary of the release of Predator, so how could I not re-watch it again. I’ve re-watched this film many, many
times and it still stands up, there’s practically no fat on this film, everything
in the film is needed and either propels the film or informs us about the characters,
making us care for them.
I also played The Chase with my nephew, who had recreated
the set with paper and felt tips. It was great fun, even though the Chaser got
me!
